Anse La Raye

St. Lucia Food Tour Location

Anse La Ray is a beautiful fishing village located on the west coast of St. Lucia. The name was derived from the two rays (rivers) that flow into the bay. Many years ago, Anse La Ray was known not only for fishing but for the production of sugarcane produced at the La Sikwi Sugar Mill. further up in the hills is a natural waterfall called the River Rock Waterfall utilized by a few locals. In the body of the village you can find the Ancient Roman Catholic Church (built in 1762), fish market, Police Station, a playing filed (locals usually play soccer) and even there own infant and primary school. On Friday evenings the town becomes active where fishermen and local-cooks showcase seafood near the bay and dance to entertaining Caribbean music all night long.
